Below is a selection of the most important innovative projects MTLT Company, realized in industrial scale.


Food industry, dairy

•Innovative technology EMU-N of demineralization acid, sweet and mixed whey, and whey protein concentrates (WPC) and other protein/milk by-products by "single-pass" technology.

Advantages of the technology with using of the EMA-TMH series electrodialyzers:
    Processing of viscous technological solutions with a high content of total solids → reduction of energy consumption for pumping and reduction of the total process time;
    Minimum time of presence the producst in the technological scheme → a significant decrease in the possibility of microbiology arising;
    Depending of the required level of demineralization, the products are desalinated in a "one-pass mode", or with partial internal recirculation, e.g. during the production of product quality D90;
    Carrying out the process at a higher temperature of working solutions → supporting to increase the efficiency of the actual electrodialysis process;
    Full hermetic of the membrane stacks → low loss of valuable components;
Improved hydraulic performance, insignificant pressure loss → reducing power consumption of working pumps;
    Using the "counter-flow" principle in the design → increasing the service life of membranes by creating favourable conditions for their functioning;
    Compact design → ease and convenience maintenance during service; Electrodialyzers is applicable both for reverse mode (EDR) and for operation without changing the polarity and hydraulic flows (ED) → universality of equipment.

Metallurgy

•Reagent-free low-waste innovative integrated technology EDR-SF for the wastewater treatment of mineralized cyanide-containing wastewater with unstable chemical composition with high concentration.

Pharmaceutical industry.

•Special EDAM technology for the efficient process of alkaline hydrolysis of organic quaternary nitrogenous compounds in the industrial production of pharmaceutical substances for the production of a commercially demanded product MELDONIUM.
              1998 - 2018,  16 pcs pharmaceutical plants in Latvia, Ukraine, Russia


Biotechnology

•Combined Plant ED/EDI for production distilled + deionized water for pharmaceutical industry.
              2008-2012, 3 pcs ED/EDI Plants, biotech companies, Ukraine

•Electromembrane diffusion-dialysis Plant DDE-CC for removal of excess alkali from high-viscosity biomass with simultaneous return of pure alkali to the main technological process for production an eco-friendly BIO-detergent.
              2009, food waste processing plant, Latvia 

•Innovative Electromembrane Plant EDBM-2 with bipolar 2-compartments stack for lactic acid production from the initial raw from biotechnological process.
             2021-2022, experimental line in the pilot biotechnological enterprise, Poland


Hydrometallurgy

•Efficient technological complex EMU-2Re, with two electrodialysis modules (3-compatrment bipolar module EMA-3BM and electrodializer-concentrator EDAC) for the production of concentrated high-purity rhenium acid from solutions of ammonium and/or potassium perrenates (including from secondary/recyclable raw materials) based on the use of classical and bipolar electrodialysis.

BIO-glycerin.

•Low-waste innovative technological scheme for the demineralization/decolorization of BIOglycerin without additional water dilution, with initial glycerol concentration "as is", on the base of electrodialysis, mechanical separation and sorption (carbon filtration) processes.
            2013-2018, three industrial Plants for producing of technical quality glycerin, capacity from 1200 to 2500 t/months; three low-tonnage Plants, capacity up to 300 t/months. Latvia, Ukraine, Russia.


Sugar industry

•Comprehensive technology for processing sugar production waste. Target - additional extraction of sugar from thick sugar semi-finished products - syrups, utfeles, green molasses and molasses. The processing technology includes two main options:
I. preliminary reagent removal of organic impurities from molasses, decolorization and electrodialysis demineralization;
II. direct processing/demineralization of green molasses, utfeles or raw sugar on electromembrane equipment and subsequent return at the main technological process of sugar production.
              2016-2017, comprehensive industrial electrodialysis plant with pretreatment of raw, Sugar Combinate, CIS.


Energy industry

•Electromembrane diffusion-dialysis extraction Plant for the separation of pure alkali from mixed high concentrated wastewater of chemical water treatment/softening unit on Power Station with her subsequent electrodialysis concentration and subsequent re-use for regeneration of Ion-Exchange resin.
           2010-2011, Power Station-3, Tatarstan;
           2016, modernization/extension of the existing Complex in order to increase capacity.


•Electromembrane Plant for desalination of highly concentrated wastewater after RO Plant for reuse on Power Station.
           2017-2018, Termal Power Station-1, Tatarstan.


Chemical industry

•Electromembrane Plant for demineralization of sludge water with subsequent electrodialysis concentration of salty solution for subsequent return to the soda production process as a feedstock.
            2015-2016, "Pikalevskaya Soda" JSC, CIS


Chemical engineering

•Electrodialysis wastewater treatment technology of the chemical modification workshop of polyacrylonitrile fiber and the ED Plant for these purposes.
            2008-2009, Special project for "AQUAFOR" LTD, CIS


NOTE: This list include some most important innovative objects MTLT Company, and does not content a lot of objects related to the traditional desalination of water from wells and/or groundwater and/or mine water and/or water softening for low-pressure boilers in small Power Station located in remote areas of Central Asia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Western Siberia and others.
In total, over 300 ED Plants were manufactured for these purposes of various capacities
